Read: Exodus 6:1-30
“Therefore, say to the people of Israel: ‘I am the Lord. I will free you from your oppression and will rescue you from your slavery in Egypt. I will redeem you with a powerful arm and great acts of judgment. I will claim you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God who has freed you from your oppression in Egypt.” Exodus 6:6-7
If you are reading this that may very well mean you may be doing your daily quiet time/daily devotional time. Quiet time is the time (no specific time of day necessary) you spend with God daily; reading the Bible, studying what you read and praying. I learned early on in my Christian walk that a dedicated time with God is very important. I also learned over the years since becoming a Christian during my quiet time with God that it’s good for me to speak the word of God over my life. What I mean is I take a portion of scripture and make it personal about me. In today’s reading verse six and seven are perfect for making it personal:
6 “Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. 7 I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God.”
The Lord is saying – I will bring you out from under the yolk of (insert word). It goes on to say: I will free you from being slaves to (insert word), and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. I will take you (insert your name) as my own, I will be your God.
That is a powerful word that can be spoken into your life today. I encourage you to make these two verses personal today. I then encourage you to begin to make God’s word from the Bible and begin to make it personal and begin to speak it over your life daily!
Father, help me to realize this day that when I read the Bible it is actually words from you to me. I want to make your word personal in my life as I begin to speak your words over my life this day. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
