Reading: Jeremiah 34

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read this chapter looking for something useful and practical to present to you today.  As I read Jeremiah 34, seeing the proclamations of God’s judgement on his people, all I could think of was, “What am I going to tell people?  What can I say that will be helpful?”  And as I stared at the little blinking cursor, this is what I came up with.  Are you ready?

Sometimes it’s not about getting something out of God’s Word, but just spending time in it.  In it we find Him.  In it we see Him and are with Him, and as I seek out the truth of what I am reading, I am seeking Him out.  Sometimes that all it’s about.  I might not walk away with some mind-blowing idea or revelation, but I will walk away knowing God more intimately.  And that’s always worth it.

Lord, thank You for Your Word and for giving me the chance to be with You.  Help me to understand You in a deeper way than just intellectually.  Help me to know You better than I know myself.  I desire You.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
