Read: Rev 21:1 – 22:6
And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” Revelation 21:5
Now John is writing about the restoration of all things at the end of the age, the return of Jesus, the final victory of God.
The longer I live, the more I see how broken our world is by sin. It breaks my heart to see the injury and pain in people’s lives and to walk through the pain inflicted by sin. The world is a hot mess, and it has been since the fall of man in the garden of Eden.
With Jesus’ arrival we witnessed a breaking in of God’s Kingdom, a glimpse of how it will one day be. But now we wait for the consummation of His Kingdom – for Him to, indeed, make all things new!
We live between the age where God’s Kingdom breaks in, and the age when the fullness of His rule and reign has come. I find myself longing for that day more and more.
For the sake of our world, Jesus, come again and make all things new. In Your name, amen.
