I started to notice a change in Ted.
At first, I thought he was just having a good run of circumstances. He had always been a melancholy sort of guy, not morose by any stretch, but much given to worry and weariness. He wouldn’t have made my top ten happy people list … he wouldn’t have made my top fifty! When circumstances got a little rocky, I would expect to see the old Ted again. But something was changing here. This morning he walked past my table at Starbucks and I couldn’t help myself – I had to ask. He was “breezing” through the place with his head held high and his Bible tucked under his arm. “What has happened to you?” I asked. His eyes were dancing, and he answered, “Remember when we met about eight months ago and you encouraged me to get my prayer life in order? That’s what I’ve done. I never miss my morning devotions and prayer.”
That was it! That was all! Ted didn’t look like the same guy I had come to know over the years. He was wearing his prayers. He was clothed in the confidence that comes from a great relationship with the Lord.
What are you clothing yourself in today? Wear your prayer!
