Reading: Esther 4:14
For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your fatherʼs family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
I am constantly amazed at how God gets His work done. Somehow He makes ordinary people achieve extraordinary results. He delights in the most unlikely characters and circumstances. He confounds the wisdom of men with ironies and longshots.
For example, if I were seated on a committee to raise up a leader for the purpose of thwarting the genocide of the Jewish race, I would probably be looking for a man. This man would have to possess great natural and learned leadership skills. He would have to be both diplomat and warrior, strategist and orator. The process would take years and the selection committee would probably render a split decision.
When God wanted to prevent the annihilation of the Jews, He started with a beauty contest! That’s right – a beauty pageant that truly crowned a winner. Esther became the Queen of an empire by virtue of her beauty. No committee could ever have conceived such a bizarre plan. God was positioning a courageous woman in a place of great influence for a particular and peculiar moment in history.
Do you consider your circumstances somewhat strange? Perhaps it’s because you have been divinely placed for such a time as this?
